8/2/2023 0 Comments Mac monitorcontrolWhy does Lunar still only play second fiddle to me as a recommendation? Well, for one, I find the setup and general interface of the program to be less intuitive. Lunar is probably the most powerful monitor control alternative, but didn't really work for me. The synchronous adjustment between the integrated and external monitor is also part of the range of functions. For example, Lunar offers different modes, so that it configures the brightness according to your ambient light, for example. Not only can Lunar do as much as Monitor Control, it even outperforms the program. The open source program is significantly more complex Lunar. QuickShade is the minimalist monitor app for macOS. However, Shade can "only" control the brightness, advanced functions such as contrast or volume are missing. You can find it directly in the App Store QuickShade a solution that is as minimalist as it is well-functioning and that works with both Intel and ARM Macs. So if you've already transitioned to the Mac future, you need an alternative for Monitor Control - and fortunately there are quite a few. Monitor Control does exactly what it says on the tin - and it's also very reliable! Monitor Control: Alternatives for M1 MacsĪs much as I like Monitor Control, the tool has (at least as of this tutorial) one serious disadvantage: It currently doesn't work with the current ARM Macs like this one great MacBook Air 2020. Everything is very simple, very successful and very efficient – that's the way it should be. If you use multiple displays on the Mac, you determine in the Reiter Scout, for which of these the adjustments can go. You can have another one here Contrast slider switch on and adapt the behavior of the control. It's also worth taking a look at Settings of the program. Think Logitech K380 Although it doesn't have any buttons for controlling the brightness, I was able to adjust the volume of the external monitor without any problems using the corresponding buttons. If you click here, you can control the brightness and volume of the external monitor directly. You will then find it in the form of an icon in the macOS menu bar. After starting, you still have to grant the program access to the macOS accessibility tools. Alternatively, you can install it via Homebrew by typing You can find the current version of the tool at GitHub. The program accesses the practically universally supported DCC interface towards the monitor and allows the adjustment of the image properties. If I now want to adjust the brightness and other settings of the HP Omen, especially in the evening hours, I have to go into the (very cumbersome) menus of the monitor - or I access Monitor Control. Not the tidiest, but certainly not the most unusual setup either -) I currently work mainly in the home office and use a MacBook connected to an HP monitor. The same applies to the screen brightness. With external displays, however, this ability is lost: For example, if you play the system sounds via the HDMI output on the connected monitor, you can no longer regulate the volume with the Mac keyboard. The various Mac models offer excellent control options for their integrated displays. Monitor Control: Control the volume, brightness of the external monitor and more using the keyboard or menu bar The wonderful open source program Monitor Control puts an end to this and simplifies the Use of external monitors on Mac. If you have connected an external monitor to a MacBook, Mac Mini or an iMac, you are probably familiar with the dilemma: If you want to adjust the monitor values such as brightness, contrast or the volume of the external speakers, you have to fiddle around with the device.
